Tenzing Dolma Sherpa
M.A. Student
Bio

My name is Tenzing Dolma, and I am a Master's student specializing in the study of the Nechung Oracle, utilizing historical, religious, and cognitive approaches. My research interests lie at the intersection of Western scientific methods and the historical and religious understanding of Tibetan Buddhism, particularly concepts related to consciousness and states of being.
With a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology, my background in cognitive research informs my exploration of the Nechung Oracle. I aim to understand its historical significance through a religious lens while examining the experience of trance as an objective state of consciousness.
Before joining Columbia, my research focused on the interplay between mindfulness and productivity through Tibetan Buddhist meditative practices.
I am passionate about exploring the connections between religious experience and scientific inquiry, challenging the reductionist and holistic tendencies of both fields.
